Students will be given an opportunity to work on skill development and strategies in various team and individual sports, games, and activities. Effort, participation, use of skills, and responsibility will be emphasized. Units will vary by semester due to availability of space, weather, and student interest.

Standard 1: Demonstrates competency in motor skills and movement patterns needed to perform a variety of physical activities.
Nitroball: Demonstrate hand-eye coordination while passing the Nitroball to teammates and hitting over the net.
Skills
Badminton: Acquire the skill set to use the racquet as a manipulative to successfully complete a game of Badminton.
Handball: Demonstrate the skills of dribbling, passing, and throwing to teammates.
Fitness Testing: Demonstrate mature push-up and sit-up form during testing.
Pickleball: Acquire the skill set to use the paddle as a manipulative to successfully complete a game of Pickleball
Volleyball: Demonstrate proper bumping, setting, and spiking form in team volleyball games.
Yard Games: Acquire skills needed to perform various yard games.
Flickerball: Demonstrate basic motor movements of overhand throwing and catching.
Floor Hockey: Show skill using manipulatives (hockey stick) while running and moving in space.
Climbing: Students are able to either climb high enough where they are off the ground or physically assist in belaying for climbers.
Kickball: Demonstrate mature kicking form, as well as showing coordination to kick a moving object.
Softball: Use manipulatives (bat) to strike a moving ball when pitched to them. They also demonstrate mature throwing and catching skills.
Disc Golf: Demonstrate ability to aim and throw at a stationary target.
Dodgeball: Demonstrate the ability to throw at a moving target, as well as dodge/flee moving objects in space.
Tag Games: Operates in space to avoid/dodge/flee.
Tchoukball: Demonstrates throwing, tracking, and catching a ball thrown from different angles.
Basketball: Demonstrate how to properly dribble, pass, shoot, and move throughout the court.
Standard 2: Demonstrates understanding of movement concepts, principles, strategies, and tactics as they apply to the learning and performance of physical activities.
Nitroball: Understands strategies to get the ball back over the net.
Badminton: Understands how placement of hit birdie effects success.
Handball: Understands how to dribble and throw the ball to a teammate and into the goal.
Fitness Testing: Understands how to properly perform each component/movement of the FitnessGram Test.
Pickleball: Understands how to use the paddle to control the angle and direction of the ball.
Volleyball: Understands how to use teammates to successfully get the ball over the net.
Yard Games: Understands the different movements and tactics to play multiple yard games.
Flickerball: Understands how to properly position themselves to score points in Flickerball.
Floor Hockey: Understands how to advance the puck down the floor using stick and teammates.
Climbing: Understands how to hook up equipment to perform a successful climb.
Kickball: Understands what to do with the ball when it is kicked to them.
Softball: Understands what to do with the ball when it is hit to them, as well as what to do when they hit the ball.
Disc Golf: Understands how to properly throw the disc towards the target, and the concept of getting the disc in the target in as few throws as possible.
Dodgeball: Understands how to move to avoid getting hit by a ball, as well as how to throw at a target.
Tag Games: Understands movements to evade.
Tchoukball: Understands how to position themselves to make a defensive catch off the proper angle of the net.
Basketball: Understands how to advance the ball down the court to position their team to score.

Floor Hockey: Runs up and down the floor to improve overall cardiovascular fitness in a game of Floor Hockey.
Climbing: Uses upper body strength to both climb and belay during the climbing unit.
Kickball: Runs bases to improve overall cardiovascular endurance during Kickball games.
Softball: Runs bases to improve overall cardiovascular endurance during a softball game.
Disc Golf: Walk from hole to hole throughout the disc golf course to increase total steps taken during a day.
Dodgeball: Uses quick movements to improve overall athleticism and coordination during dodgeball games.
Tag Games: Increase cardiovascular endurance during multiple tag games.
Tchoukball: Improves overall fitness by running to catch and throw a ball during Tchoukball.
Basketball: Improves cardiovascular endurance during the duration of a basketball game.

Pickleball: Communicates appropriately with the opponent during a game to discuss score and serving.
Volleyball: Works with teammates to successfully get the ball over the net in three hits or less.
Yard Games: Works well in a 2 on 2 environment with others in an outdoor setting during yard games.
Flickerball: Honors personal space of others during a game of Flickerball.
Floor Hockey: Maintains composure during a fast-paced and sometimes physical game of floor hockey.
Climbing: Communicates climbing commands with others and demonstrates responsible safety procedures during the climbing unit.
Kickball: Communicates appropriately with teammates on in-game strategies in a game of kickball.
Softball: Demonstrates safety when swinging a bat during softball.
Disc Golf: Demonstrates safety before throwing a disc with others around during disc golf.
Dodgeball: Safely moves and throws a ball with others in close proximity during a dodgeball game.
Tag Games: Respects others’ personal space while still being able to complete a tag game.
Tchoukball: Follows rules and moves throughout the gym safely during Tchoukball.
Basketball: Follows rules and works with teammates in a 5 on 5 basketball game and during skill development games.

Badminton: Plays badminton using proper scoring and rules while demonstrating effort to strike the birdie.

Pickleball: Values Pickleball by using proper scoring techniques.
Volleyball: Can successfully complete and understand volleyball to the level of being able to play outside of Physical Education class.
Yard Games: Sets up and completes yard games with a partner in an outdoor setting.
Flickerball: Works well with teammates to successfully move the ball down the court in Flickerball.
Floor Hockey: Values the safety of others during Floor Hockey by following safety rules and regulations in Floor Hockey.
Climbing: Works as a belay team to successfully complete a climb with 3 others.
Kickball: Runs hard to each base after kicking the ball.
Softball: Runs hard to each base after hitting a softball.
Disc Golf: Completes a round (9 holes) of disc golf with other players.
Dodgeball: Feels safe and values the safety of others during a game of Dodgeball.
Tag Games: Runs at top speed during multiple tag games.
Tchoukball: Passes to teammates and runs to desired location on the gym floor during a game of Tchoukball.
Basketball: Can successfully complete and understand basketball to the level of being able to play outside of Physical Education class.
