Class Info

Within students' three years at PTMS, they will experience an expanding knowledge of art and learn hands on approaches to creating art.

Students will expand their knowledge of the art elements by learning how to use them to design art works. They will be introduced to the principles of art, which are the guidelines to organizing artworks.

Students will begin to learn how to critique visual artworks by studying the four steps of art criticism, which are describing, analyzing, interpreting and judging. This will allow students to understand the works of others and create works of their own in a more knowledgeable way.

Students will look at the history of art and begin to examine how time and place influences how art is created. They will grow to have a better appreciation of human development through the art from other cultures. They will learn the process of understanding how and why these works were created.
