Roxane is a 17 year old senior at D.H Conley High School. She was born in Arizona, but moved to North Carolina in 2023. She prefers to be called Roxie and her favorite subject in school is science.
“I love biology, I know everyone hates it but it is really interesting to me.”
This is Roxie’s third year in yearbook and she enjoys being part of it. Her role this year is Photography Editor. Roxie joined yearbook in a unique way.
“I got placed in yearbook by accident which wasn't supposed to happen because you are supposed to fill out an application but I didn't have to do any of that.“
It was destined for her to be part of the yearbook family.
“I like the environment and the idea of giving myself a purpose in school and working towards something until the end.”
She enjoys taking pictures at and outside of school. Her biggest accomplishment is finishing the yearbook regardless of if it is editing or taking photos, writing captions, or creating layouts. Whenever Roxie comes across conflict in yearbook she tries to think about all of the possible solutions.
“Whenever people wouldn’t answer their emails or interviews, I would have to track them down or I’d find other people and I would just try every other option I have.”
Her go-to place where she can fully calm down is her bed.
“The second I'm overwhelmed, I just need to lay down.”
Roxie is passionate about things that involve photography, history, and science.
“I like learning about the past, about humans and their evolution.”
After high school Roxie plans to attend college at UNCW and study social work.
“The idea of being a social worker is cool to me.”
She is excited for what this year is going to bring and looks forward to doing whatever it takes to finish the yearbook.
