Additional Requirements:
Early Childhood Education I and II
Be 16 years of age to intern at a child care center or 15 to intern at a local elementary school.
Pass a TB Skin test
Pass a background check (internship site requirement)
Medical Assisting
Be 16 years of age and within 12 months of graduation
Have health insurance coverage (clinical site requirement)
Have up-to-date immunization record (clinical site requirement)
Nursing Fundamentals
Be 16.5 years of age
Pass a TB Skin test
Have up-to-date immunization record, including flu shot (clinical site requirement)
Pass a background check (clinical site requirement)
Pass a drug test (clinical site requirement)
Have appropriate footwear and scrubs (colors and requirements vary by site)
Have a social security number in order to take the NC Nurse Aide I certification examination
Have a photo ID issued by the state (Identification card or Driver's License)
Behavioral Expectations for Internships
Students who participate in clinical/internship experiences must abide by and be subject to the Pitt County School’s Code of Student Conduct. Students demonstrating repeated rule violations as determined by the appropriate school personnel will be unable to participate in clinical/internship experiences. Students with such offenses may be re-evaluated and allowed to participate if the student can demonstrate ONE FULL YEAR without offenses to the appropriate school personnel. An appeals process is available.
STUDENTS DEMONSTRATING A VIOLATION OF THE RULES OF STUDENT CONDUCT AS DEFINED IN THE CODE OF STUDENT CONDUCT; RESULTING IN OUT-OF-SCHOOL SUSPENSION AS DETERMINED BY THE DESIGNATED SCHOOL PERSONNEL WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE IN CLINICAL/INTERNSHIP EXPERIENCES.
