Joining Band

The instruments for beginning band students are flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, trombone, and percussion (bells and snare drum). Here is a video demonstrating them, produced by members of the United States Army Field Band.

Joining Strings

The instrument choices for middle school strings are violin, viola, cello, and bass. Fourth and fifth graders may choose violin, viola, or cello. Members of the Philadelphia Orchestra introduce them in this video.
