Ranadeb completed his M.Sc. from  the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay under the guidance of Professor C. Subramaniam. His Master dissertation focused on the fabrication of CNT based solid-state supercapacitor with superfast charge-discharge dynamics. Later, he worked towards the electrochemical and spectroscopic investigation of transition metal catalyzed heterogeneous phase water splitting reaction.  Currently he uses multidimensional infrared spectroscopy to understand the effects of the electrostatic environment on phylloquinone in the photosystem I reaction center.
