Food Network Magazine The Big, Fun Kids Cookbook

Step 1: Watch the two supplied videos from Ms. Argenta. The videos can get found on the "Intro" page of WebQuest. They can also get found here:

Step 2: We will go shopping to pretend that we are about to cook dinner tonight for our family, like Anna! Please review Food Network's Magazine "The Big, Fun Kids Cookbook". Choose any recipe you would like to make for your family. The online cookbook can get found by clicking on the cookbook to the left.

Step 3: Grab your packet. Fill in your ingredients shopping list page based on the recipe you choose.

Step 4: Next, we will be searching the web to find the price of the required product we need. We also want to look for the price which indicates LESS or cheaper. Please choose at least two grocery stores to compare prices. The following links take you to the grocery page. However, you may want to search for your product individually. You are trying to find the lowest price for this particular assignment and activity. Again, write your findings into your packet.

*I just want to see that my students can compare prices to determine how the dollar amount number in a price shows us LESS and MORE regarding money value. The WebQuest is only at a Kindergarten or Early Childhood Level.*

Step 5: CHOOSE YOUR STORE! Spend some time comparing your two stores. Work in the packet and answer the following questions regarding your newfound material and resources.

Step 6: Complete your entire workbook packet.

Step 7: Once complete, you may work on the following activity/game/learning opportunity:

RULES:

Turn in your packet to Mrs. Argenta.
Mrs. Argenta will hand you 5 items of "food". The food will be a combination of play food and/or real empty food boxes.
It is YOUR job to accurately price these items.
Return to your store resources websites.
Search for examples of the products you've been given.
Use the price stickers to write a dollar amount on the sticker in regards to the cost of the item.
Don't forget your dollar sign!
Ask Mrs. Argenta to check your work.
You have the potential to receive BONUS points on your WebQuest activity for accurately priced foods.

Return to the online cookbook. PRINT YOUR RECIPE.
