This week marked the first week of class at Academy High School!
Students began their project titled “Mirror, Mirror on the Wall”.
Group Activity: Students worked in groups of four to research a person and present their findings to the class.
Presentations were well-prepared and engaging, and it was wonderful to see students confidently share their research.
This week, students are exploring limits, a key concept in calculus that forms the foundation for derivatives and integrals. Topics include:
1.02 Finding Limits Numerically and Graphically: Understanding limits by examining tables of values and graphs.
1/03 Finding Limits Analytically: Calculating limits using algebraic techniques.
1.04 Limits – Properties: Learning the rules and laws that simplify limit calculations.
1.05 Limits – Composite Functions: Applying limits to functions composed of other functions.
1.06 Limits – Trig Functions & Squeeze Theorem: Evaluating limits involving trigonometric functions and using the squeeze theorem.
1.07 Absolute Value Review: Revisiting absolute value functions and their behavior in limits.
Students are encouraged to complete daily homework to build understanding and strengthen AP Exam preparation.
Daily AP Calculus practice – expected for skill-building, may or may not be graded.
AP Calculus Review Sheet – assigned Thursday, due Monday (graded).
Reminders
Review homework daily to stay prepared for AP Calculus exams.
The concept of limits, which we are studying this week, is the foundation for derivatives and integrals, which are essential tools for modeling real-world problems in physics, economics, and engineering.
Words of Wisdom - Sloka:
उद्धरेदात्मनाऽत्मानं नात्मानं अवसादयेत्।
आत्मैव ह्यात्मनो बन्धुरात्मैव रिपुरात्मनः।
विद्यां च विज्ञानं च यत्किञ्चिज्जगति लाभ्यते।
स तु सदा सत्कुरु त्वं नित्यं धर्ममार्गेण।
Transliteration:
