Mathews Elementary
Red Ribbon Week Celebration
October 25-Oct 29, 2020
Dear Parent(s):
Mathews Elementary will be participating in a national celebration called Red Ribbon Week. Red Ribbon Week is designed to create an awareness concerning the problems related to the use of tobacco, alcohol, and drugs. Red Ribbon Week is a time for schools and communities across the nation to come together in the fight against drugs.
Students will be participating in spirit wear days, themed activities and have lessons from the counselor on healthy decision-making skills. Students will make the commitment to by reciting a verbal pledge and signing a healthy living banner. Students enjoy participating in the theme days, to show their commitment to being drug free. All daily themes are optional for students.
At Mathews, we focus on the many aspects of health and safety and teach age appropriate knowledge. You can take advantage of this time to open a dialogue at home and discuss issues like peer pressure and making healthy choices for a safe future.
