Kathryn Loftin
Hello! My name is Mrs. Loftin, the K-2 PACE teacher at Mathews. I am thrilled to welcome your child to our Gifted and Talented class for this 2025-2026 school year. It is both a privilege and a pleasure to have the opportunity to work with such bright and talented students, and I am excited about the journey and learning adventures we will experience together. So, get ready for an amazing school year ahead!
A little about myself.... This is my 28th year in teaching. Fifteen years in PISD and 12 years in private school. I have taught 4th, 1st, kindergarten, but have spent the majority of my years teaching 2nd grade. I graduated from Texas Tech University and both of my children attended PISD schools. My husband Jimmy and I have one granddaughter, Kolyns, (3 1/2) and Conrad, (1) years old. We also have our well-adored French Bulldog named Teddy and he will become a well-known name in your household soon I'm sure. :) Since we are empty nesters, my husband and I love to travel (when we are not working), snow skiing, hiking, and being grandparents-(aka Poppy and Keke) This will be my 5th year at Mathews and feel so blessed that I'm surrounded by amazing coworkers, students, and families. I simply love my job and being "one" part of your child's educational journey.
This class is designed to challenge and inspire your child, providing them with opportunities to explore their interests, develop critical thinking skills, and work on projects that stimulate their creativity and intellect. My goal is to create an environment where your child feels encouraged to explore their potential and take ownership of their learning.
Throughout the year, we will be engaging in a variety of activities that will push students to think deeply, collaborate with peers, and apply their knowledge in innovative ways. I believe in a student-centered approach, where each child’s unique strengths and interests guide our learning experiences.
Communication between home and school is vital for your child’s success. I will be sending out communication primarily through the SeeSaw app about our class activities, projects, and any important information. If you haven't already, please make sure you have connected to your student's SeeSaw account so you receive the notifications when your student posts work or when I send out any announcements or communication.
I look forward to working together to make this a successful and enriching year for your child. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions, concerns, or simply want to discuss your child’s progress. I am always happy to hear from you!
