Anthology Project
This year we are participating in the Anthology Project with FIN Press Publications. This site is meant to give you information, access to any needed forms, and answer questions about the project.
What is The Anthology Project?
The Anthology Project is a chance for students to write and create art based on a theme and then have their creations published in a physical book.
What can be submitted?
Participants can submit as many entries as they want in any of the following:
Any type of writing (poetry, short stories, nonfiction, personal narratives, etc)
Art
Photography
For specific instructions look at the Criteria Page Here
What is this year's theme?
The theme is "Be Here". You can take it in any direction, as long as it's your creative idea.
When is it due? What do I need?
All projects are due on Tuesday, January 19, 2024. They require a parent permission form that you can download HERE
If you are submitting a writing piece, please share it with Mrs. Prather in Google Drive.
If you are submitting art, please submit it to Mrs. Prather physically, unless it's a piece of digital art or a photograph of a sculpture or something. That needs to be submitted to Mrs. Prather in Google Drive.
If you are submitting a photograph, you can submit it to Mrs. Prather either physically or in Google Drive.
What happens once I've submitted my creation?
Your work gets evaluated at Fin Press. There is a minimum standard required. The work has to fit the theme, and writing must be edited. There can be no copyrighted material included in any of the projects. In other words, you can't use someone else's art or writing and add or change it. All the work has to be originally yours.
All the projects get edited into a book format and both the people at FIN Press and Mrs. Prather and her team will make sure names are correct and everything has been included correctly.
Students will get a chance to preorder a book at cost. Nobody makes money on this project, not even FIN Press.
There will be a release party in April for all the students who participated to attend with their parents. All the work will be displayed in the library.
Will I automatically get a copy of the book?
It depends on how big the book is and how many students participate. FIN Press is trying to provide a book to each student, but if that's not possible, it will be at a minimal price.
Will the book be available for purchase later on?
Yes, anyone can order more copies of the book later on and get them shipped directly?
Do I make any money from the book and my creation?
Nobody makes money on this project, not even FIN Press. It is a nonprofit organization that is promoting student creation.
What if I need help?
Mrs. Prather is available to answer questions and help. Ms. Albar has agreed to help with writing needs, and the art teacher, Mrs. Hawn will help if you have questions about art. Jacob and Cassie Arnold at FIN Press are also available to answer questions. You can contact them at info@finnpresspublications.com
Are there any other forms that I'll need to fill out?
FIN Press would like permission to use any pictures or videos they take during any events they attend. They have a release form for that purpose which you can find HERE
