The National Capital Region (NCR) ,also known as Metro Manila, was created due to the result of alluvial deposit by the Pasig River. In this lesson, we featured the other four cities in the NCR -- Navotas, Mandaluyong, Marikina and Parañaque.
Navotas city was coined from the word "nabutas" due to the strong current of the river. The Mandaluyong city is located at the center of Metro Manila and it is described with a heart shape or heart of the golden triangle because it is surrounded by three prosperous cities: Manila, Makati, and Quezon City. Marikina was awarded as the most competitive city in the Philippines and it is famous for its name as the "Shoe Capital of the Philippines. Parañaque has a famous local church which is the "Baclaran Church" and since the city is near the coastal area they serve delicious seafood known as "Dampa".
