NSBE Meeting November 29th Notes:

Trip to Detroit for NSBE conference in March:

Funding has been secured for the trip. Students attending, send Adolfo corral@sbcc.edu your state ID or passport to book our flights. Please have them in by Tuesday December 4th.

White Elephant Party :

White Elephant Party on Thursday December 13th @ 2pm Umoja Center. Please bring a wrapped gift (10$ Max) for the gift exchange. There will be food, music, and games.

Black STEM tutoring through Umoja:

We discussed on trying to set up tutoring services for Black STEM students though Umoja for next spring. Tutoring services include Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, and Computer science.

NSBE Meeting October 25th Notes:

The National NSBE Conference in Detroit during Spring Break was discussed. Fund raising, timeline and visiting colleges in the area were also covered. Committed and interested students should contact Adolfo: corral@sbcc.edu before Tuesday October 30, if you haven't already.

Raytheon Tour:

Two engineers that the club had lunch with last semester will be hosting us on Tuesday October 30.

Funding for NSBE Conference in Detroit:

Discussed T-shirts and maybe buying wristbands instead to promote the club and to raise money.

Short Discussion:

A grant on campus asked for input from underrepresented STEM majors on student needs. We discussed space, black mentors and faculty and making resources(ie STEM Center, Math Lab, NSBE) more available, accessible and visible to students.
