For my K-5 resource caseload parents, you can help out at home by:
Reading with your child for 15-20 minutes each evening and asking to retell what happened.
Practicing sight words, spelling patterns, or vocabulary using flashcars or simple games.
Reviewing addition, subtraction, multiplication, or measuring ingredients.
Checking homework and helping your child correct mistakes without completing the work for them.
Maintaining a predictable homework routine in a quiet, distraction free location
Breaking assignments into smaller steps and providing brief movement breaks
Encouraging your child to use strategies taught at school, such as rereading, highlighting key information, using manipulatives, or drawing a model
Using visual schedules, timers, and checklists
