Keep ill students home until the student has been symptom-free for 24 hours, and/or if they: have a fever of 100° or higher, vomiting or diarrhea, evidence of a severe head cold, persistent cough, or sore throat, or there is evidence of a suspicious rash or other contagious conditions (pink eye, head lice, ringworm etc.). Make sure you notify your student’s homeroom teacher and Mrs. Deaton of your student’s absence and send a note when the student returns to school.

Outerwear Permitted Inside the Building
Coats, jackets, ¼-zip pullovers and sweaters that are red, solid black, solid white OR a combination of these colors are permitted if they are embroidered with PCA's logo / Spirit Wear logo.
Hooded clothing cannot be worn inside the building at any time.
Shoes must be black, red, white, or any combination of those colors. Students may not wear sandals, flip-flops, clogs, Crocs, Toe-Shoes, mules, or boots.
Solid white, black, or red crewneck sweatshirts embroidered with PCA’s logo may be worn with a polo shirt underneath with the collar pulled out.
Skirts must be purchased from an approved vendor AND may not be shorter than 3” above the knee.

Band registration for the 2025-2026 school year is now open. All students currently in grades 5-11 have the opportunity to be part of our after-school program. Students in current grades 8-11 may sign up for the band class as well. A band information night will be held on Tuesday, April 29 at 7:00 PM in room 101 (Band room). If you would like to honor a loved one who is surviving cancer or remember someone who has lost the battle, please complete the attached form, and return to Mrs. Welch. The luminarias will be displayed at the Cleveland County Relay for Life event on Saturday, May 3 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Cleveland Community College in Shelby. Suggested donation is $10 per bag, but you can make a tax-deductible gift of any amount. You may pay by cash or check (please make payable to PCA and put “Relay for Life” on the memo line). Weekly Updates and Reminders - 4/6/25 to 4/13/25
On Monday, April 7, PCA 10th and 11th grade students will go on a field trip to the Charlotte Motor Speedway and Albemarle Lithium in Kings Mountain. Students participating in the field trip should be on campus by 7:30 am. When students arrive on campus, they should go directly to the high school student center where we will take attendance before boarding the bus. Students are scheduled to arrive back on campus between 4:00 and 5:00 pm. Because of the day's activities, students need to wear long uniform pants. Students should not wear shorts, skirts or sweatpants. The uniform code remains in place, though spirit wear (clothing item with one of our official sports or clubs logos) may be worn with regular uniform long pants. Students need to wear comfortable "closed toe" shoes (no sandals or flip flops). If students wear a short sleeve shirt, they also need to bring a (non-hoodie) sweatshirt or light jacket (school colors) to put on during the outdoor portion of the Albemarle tour. Students are permitted to have cell phones on the field trip if they have turned in a "Field Trip Electronic Device Waiver" form by the morning of the field trip

Spring is in the air and with that there are a few reminders and updates for the Student Center. Please remember...
- Hours: 11:45 - 4:30, closed from 1:00 - 1:30
- Features such as Coffee, Water & Candy are for those working in the center ONLY.
- To enter the Student Center a student must have a Hall Pass, without one they will be sent back to class. Sticky notes will no longer be accepted.
- Students staying after school for any reason MUST have something to work on while in the student center.
ALL ATHLETES… Athletic photos will be taken on Monday, March 17, 2025. Students will need to listen for the PA announcements closely.

The 10th & 11th grade field trip to the Charlotte Motor Speedway and Albemarle Lithium Facility will take place on April 7, 2025. The total cost of the field trip is $86. Since the students who signed up for the field trip have already paid a deposit of $30, the balance now due is $56. Students who are already signed up for the field trip can stop by Mr. Kauder’s classroom (room 114) during homeroom or at lunchtime by Wednesday, March 12th to drop off the second payment. Students are welcome to pay in cash or by check. However, if a student is planning to pay in cash, they should bring exact change.
The PCA NHS Relay for Life team is sponsoring a luminaria drive to raise funds for the American Cancer Society. If you would like to honor a loved one who is surviving cancer or remember someone who has lost the battle, please complete the attached form, and return to Mrs. Welch. The luminarias will be displayed at the Cleveland County Relay for Life event on Saturday, May 3 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Cleveland Community College in Shelby. Suggested donation is $10 per bag, but you can make a tax-deductible gift of any amount. You may pay by cash or check (please make payable to PCA and put “Relay for Life” on the memo line). Those who register for the meeting will be eligible to receive a $200 tour scholarship and be eligible for Risk-Free Enrollment if they enroll on tour.

PCA is organizing a field trip for 10th and 11th graders on Monday, April 7, 2025. Students will visit the Charlotte Motor Speedway to participate in a Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) program. Then, they will tour the Albemarle Lithium facility in Kings Mountain to learn about careers in chemistry, engineering, project management and other STEM fields. The total cost of the field trip will be $90 or less. (The final cost of the field trip will depend on the number of students who participate.) Spaces are still available for the moment. To register, students can turn in their registration and waiver forms and pay a (non-refundable) deposit of $30 dollars by Friday, January 24, 2025. (This is the final deadline for deposits and registration forms.) Mr. Kauder is collecting the registration forms and deposits in room 114 during homeroom and at lunchtime. The balance of the cost of the trip will be collected in February 2025. We hope your high school student can participate in this exciting educational experience.

Senior Class Zoo Trip – A Memorable Final Adventure! The senior class is excited to embark on one last unforgettable field trip with their peers—a fun-filled day at the zoo! Students can choose to bring a bag lunch (coolers will be provided for storage) or purchase lunch at the zoo—just be sure to bring enough money if buying lunch. All money and permission forms are due by February 6th, so don’t miss out on this special opportunity! Solid white, black, or red crewneck sweatshirts embroidered with PCA’s logo may be worn with a polo shirt underneath with the collar pulled out.
Skirts must be purchased from an approved vendor AND may not be shorter than 3” above the knee.
The full dress code may be found in the Student/Parent Handbook. Please note that an office referral may be submitted for any student not in compliance with PCA’s dress code policy.
Cell phones and all other personal electronic devices (including but not limited to smartwatches, MP3 players, personal computers/laptops, video games, tablets, etc.) are NOT allowed at school during the school day including during dismissal. Any personal electronic device found during the day will be confiscated. Refer to the school website for the full technology policy.
