Week of March 9-12
Letterland:
This week students will be introduced to L-blends (as in flat, plug, clock, glad, and black). We will continue to read and answer comprehension questions from our “Sam” reader.
Heart Words:
Please take a few minutes each evening to review the following four heart words (sight words) with your child: look, good, too, soon. These four words will be assessed on Thursday, March 12th.
Listening & Learning:
We will continue our unit on Weather Patterns. Students will understand that the weather changes from season to season. Students will also learn about different types of severe weather, as well as what a meteorologist does. Please use the information that will be sent home to review with your child. Our Weather Patterns Assessment will be on Friday, March 20th.
Ready Math:
We will complete Unit 4: Addition and Subtraction. This week students will review both addition and subtraction facts within 10. Students will also move from problems shown with pictures to problems shown only with numbers. Our Addition and Subtraction Test will be on Thursday, March 12th.

Important Information
MORNING SNACK: In order to help students avoid confusing lunch and snack items, please place a morning snack in the small front zipper pocket of your child’s backpack (instead of in his/her lunchbox with lunch items). Please show your child where to find his/her morning snack.
We have also found that reusable water bottles are less likely to spill and much easier for your child to identify. Please send a labeled reusable water bottle with your child each day!
Uniform Reminders
Student uniforms (other than scooters and dresses) require a solid black belt (or the approved plaid belt for girls). Please remind and practice the following steps with your child:
1. After using the bathroom, TUCK the shirt into your shorts/pants first.
2. Zip and button shorts/pants after tucking the shirt in all the way around.
3. Buckle your belt last. Thank you so much for your support!
