Week of December 15-19


Letterland:

This week students will learn the sound and letter shapes for Quarrelsome Queen, Vicky Violet and Walter Walrus. Students will continue reading from our “Seth” readers.  We will have a Word Decoding Test on Wednesday, December 17th. Students will be expected to read words with following letter teams: ch, sh, th, ng, qu, and ck.


Heart Words:

There will be no new heart words this week. Please continue to review and practice all heart words.

Listening & Learning:

This week students will listen to the classic stories “Little Bear” and “Frog and Toad.” 

Ready Math:

We will continue our unit on Shapes.  This week students will continue to identify flat and solid shapes, as well as comparing flat and solid shapes based on their attributes. Our Unit 7-Shapes Test will be on Friday, December 19th. 


RED Folders

Your child should read EACH night. When you feel like your child can read the book fluently, please sign the reading log and send the folder and book back to school.


Upcoming Dates and Events:

December 19th- Polar Express Day--Students may wear pajamas with appropriate school shoes.  

We will be having our Class Holiday Party on Friday, December 19th. Thank you so much to all families that have signed up to send in items for this event! Please plan to send your items by Thursday, December 18th.


December 22-January 2nd- Winter Break-No School


January 5th- Teacher Workday- No School 


Important Information


Uniform Reminders

Student uniforms (other than scooters and dresses) require a solid black belt (or the approved plaid belt for girls). Please remind and practice the following steps with your child:

1. After using the bathroom, TUCK the shirt into your shorts/pants first.

2. Zip and button shorts/pants after tucking the shirt in all the way around.

3. Buckle your belt last. Thank you so much for your support!
