Week of March 30-April 2


Letterland:

This week students will be introduced to the sound /ie/ with the ‘i_e’ spelling (as in kite and bike). We will refer to the letter ‘e’ in these spellings as a “magic e”. We will continue to read and answer comprehension questions from our “Zack and Ann” reader.


Heart Words:

There will be no new heart words this week. Please continue to review the words that have been sent home.

Listening & Learning:

We will continue Domain 10: Colonial Towns and Townspeople. This week students will learn about the following tradespeople: the bricklayer, mason, and carpenter. Students will also hear the story “The Elves and the Shoemaker.” Our Domain 10 Assessment will be on Friday, April 17th.


Ready Math:

This week we will review math concepts taught so far (identifying numbers, addition, subtraction, etc.). 


RED Folders

Your child should read EACH night. When you feel like your child can read the book fluently, please sign the reading log and send the folder and book back to school.


Upcoming Dates and Events:

April 1st- Easter Celebration-

On Wednesday, April 1st, we will have a class Easter egg hunt. All students will need to bring a basket (no grass) with 12 pre-filled eggs by Tuesday, March 31st. 


April 2nd- Field Day-


April 3rd-10th- Spring Break-No School




Important Information


Uniform Reminders

Student uniforms (other than scooters and dresses) require a solid black belt (or the approved plaid belt for girls). Please remind and practice the following steps with your child:

1. After using the bathroom, TUCK the shirt into your shorts/pants first.

2. Zip and button shorts/pants after tucking the shirt in all the way around.
