KINDERGARTEN NEWS
May 6-10, 2024
In our class:
Letterland:
This week we will review skills that have been taught. We will also continue to read and answer comprehension questions from our “Scott” reader.
Listening & Learning:
We will complete Domain 11: Taking Care of the Earth. This week students will learn about land, water, and air pollution. Please use the information that has been sent home to review with your child.
Our Domain 11 Assessment will be on Tuesday, May 14th.
Ready Math:
We will continue our unit on Measurement. This week students will learn to compare objects by weight. Comparing two objects by weight involves finding which object is heavier and lighter.
Sight Words:
We have completed sight words for the year. If your child has not yet mastered their Baseball, Soccer, Basketball, Football, Volleyball, or Golf Ball words, please continue to work on them. They will be assessed on them again before the end of the school year.
Upcoming Dates and Events:
May 10th- Field Day
May 24th- Kindergarten End-of-Year Program 9:00am in the K-3 Gym
May 24th- Last Day—Early Release @11:30am
Field Day will start at 8:30am. Parents are welcome to attend and/or volunteer (please visit the sign-up that was emailed if interested in volunteering)!
Students will bring their own lunch and water bottle as usual.
Please apply sunscreen on your child before they arrive at school.
Students can wear Field Day shirts or spirit shirts. Athletic shorts (no shorter than 3” above the knee) and tennis shoes/sneakers are highly recommended.
There will be water-themed activities if your child wants to participate. Students should bring a towel (labeled with their name) if they want to participate.
Pelicans/Fat N Sassy’s will be available for anyone to purchase. If you would like your child to purchase something, please send cash in a Ziploc bag labeled with your child’s name.
After Field Day ends, parents may take students home with them by signing out with their child’s teacher.
