Each week, your child will bring home a homework packet filled with fun and meaningful activities that connect with the skills we are learning in class. Homework will be sent home each day of the week and are encouraged to be returned in your child’s homework folder the following day. There will be one reading and one math page to complete each night that should not take more than 15 min. to complete.
Please note that homework is now mandatory. As a kindergarten team, we feel that this Is a wonderful way to reinforce our classroom learning and give your child extra practice and confidence with weekly concepts. We encourage families to work together to complete the activities carefully and neatly.
One of the most important things you can do at home is read with your child each day! Please plan to spend at least 10 minutes each night reading to or with your kindergarten student. In the next coming months, your child will begin bringing home a level reader that is at their current reading level. This is a wonderful opportunity to practice reading skills at home, build confidence, and celebrate your child’s growth as a reader! Please help your child take good care of their level reader book. Students should bring their books back once a week to read with their teachers to earn a reward and a new level reader.
Communication between home and school is very important to us! Please use email or phone calls for communication, and be sure to check your email daily for updates and important information.
Beginning a few weeks into our school year, your child will also bring home their “Take Home Tuesday Folder” containing graded classwork and important papers. Please review the contents, sign the log inside the folder, and return the folder and all papers by the next day (Wednesday.)
