Math- This week students will be subtracting to compare numbers in word problems.  Lesson 6 quiz will be Thursday, September 24th.

Reading-  Students will continue to work on mastering the sound combination: ar.  Students will practice making predictions about stories and answering comprehension questions.  We will continue to review all consonant sounds, long and short vowel sounds, and the following team sounds: th, sh, wh, ch, ing, er, qu, oo. 

Domain- The first three Read-Alouds were all stories about good people who are treated unfairly and ultimately find happiness, with variations set in France, Egypt, and Ireland. The next three Read-Alouds are folktales about supernaturally small characters. These include variations set in England, Denmark, and Japan. Reading these folktales and fairy tales will help students develop a strong foundation for their understanding and enjoyment of similar stories from different lands. 

Writing- This week students are learning about Common, Proper and Possessive nouns. A noun is a word that names a person, place, or thing. The assessment will be on Monday, September 28th.  

Spelling- Students will receive a Spelling List with the following words:  cop, hop, shop, ship, dish, fish, wish, then, was, wet.  The spelling test will be on Thursday, September 24th.
