• Math:   Students will learn the make a ten to subtract strategy.  Math test will be on January 30th

• Domain:Students will continue learning about Simple Machines. They will learn about a wheel and axle, a pulley, a lever, and how a wedge and screw work together. Test will be on Wednesday, February 4th. 

• Writing: Writing: Our assessment for Personal Narratives will be on Monday, February 2nd.  Students will begin our Verb Unit where they will practice using verbs to convey a sense of past, present, and future (e.g., Yesterday, I walked home; Today, I walk home; Tomorrow, I will walk home).  Vocabulary words for this mini unit are singular noun, plural, noun, and verbs.

• Letterland: Children learn about the long o sound in oa and ow.  Spelling Test will be Friday, January 30th.

•  Reading:We will begin Skills Unit 5. This week in unit 5 we will review alternative spellings for /p/ (p and pp), /b/ (b and bb), and /k/ (c, k, ck, cc).  We will practice reading and writing root words with the suffixes -ing, and -ed, like in stopped and stopping. Students will be introduced to their new reader, “Kate.”.  We will have a level F R.C.P. Assessment on Wednesday, January 28th.
