6th Grade STEM

Last 10 Days of School

Because there are no more packet pick-ups, there is no more STEM work to be completed and returned. There are enrichment activities in each Google Classroom that can be completed to keep your skills sharp.

May 2020

22 May 2020: The weekly pacing guide is here. ALL WORK SHOULD BE TURNED IN ON GOOGLE CLASSROOM, if at all possible. Remember that all questions require COMPLETE SENTENCES (unless it is a chart or fill-in-the-blank question). Answers not in complete sentences will be marked accordingly.

As always, please do your math, science, social studies, and language arts work first. The pacing guide is just a general guideline of how to spread the work out over the five days. If you work ahead, that is fine. Anyone who has not joined the Google Classroom needs to do so right away. To turn work in, complete the activity and click "turn in".

TO ACCESS VIDEO CHATS: Video chats are held on Tuesday and Thursday, 11:30 - noon. Go onto the Google Classroom and click the video link at the top. This is a recorded meeting, only available to students in this class. The Google Hangout chat (no video) is available from 8-4 each weekday for answers to specific questions.

Be sure to check out my fun science fact of the day on the main page of this website. Check back each weekday for a new one!

Independent Work (due May 26th): Both articles, answered in complete sentences turned in on Google Classroom. Answers not in complete sentences will be graded accordingly. IF YOU CHOOSE TO TURN IN PAPER, MAKE SURE YOUR NAME AND "STEM" IS ON EVERY PAGE!

April 2020 - Quarter 4

24 April 2020: The weekly pacing guide is here. Due to the unavailability of internet resources for some of our students, we will suspend working on the next ciphers in Cryptology for the foreseeable future. The work being sent home will no longer require internet access and can be accessed and completed either on paper or on Google Classroom.

Anyone who has not joined the Google Classroom needs to do so as that is now the location for joining the daily Google Meet. On the classroom is a link dedicated solely to students in 6th Grade STEM Quarter 4. As always, the Google Hangout is monitored from 8-4 every weekday for questions concerning your assignments, but the daily meeting is now accessed through Google Classroom. Look for the Google Meet link at the top of the classroom page.

Be sure to check out my fun science fact of the day on the main page of this website. Check back each weekday for a new one! If you have any questions about your assignment, join me any weekday from 11:30 until noon on the Google Hangout. You will be invited using your school email.

Independent Work (due April 27th): All five biographies with answers in complete sentences. It is preferred that you turn in your work on Google Classroom.

09 April 2020: The weekly pacing guide is here. The next chapter of work (to be used AFTER Spring Break) is in the materials given to you in your pick-up envelope and is available in the Google Classroom. There is also an alternative packet that MAY BE USED, if needed. DO NOT complete this packet (science articles) unless you receive notification. I will email all parents if we switch to this format.

As always, please do your math, science, social studies, and language arts work first. The pacing guide is just a general guideline of how to spread the work out over the five days. If you work ahead, that is fine. Anyone who has not joined the Google Classroom needs to do so by Tuesday at noon. To turn work in, you will need to scan/take a photo of the pages and email them to jjacobs@pinnacleclassicalacademy.com or bring back the pages during packet pick-up on April 6th.

Be sure to check out my fun science fact of the day on the main page of this website. Check back each weekday for a new one! If you have any questions about your assignment, join me any weekday from 11:30 until noon on the Google Hangout. You will be invited using your school email.

Independent Work (due April 20th): Chapter 2 through page 22 (keep page 23 for a future assignment). MAKE SURE YOUR NAME IS ON EVERY PAGE!

03 April 2020: With the school building still closed, we are continuing to learn! STEM packets are in the materials given to you in your pick-up envelope and are available here and the syllabus is here. Please be advised that, after this first week, all work will be posted to the Google Classroom rather than here (due to copywrite issues). Please do your math, science, social studies, and language arts work first. The pacing guide is just a general guideline of how to spread the work out over the five days. If you work ahead, that is fine. You will want to join the Google Classroom (the join code is in the packet and was sent to your child via Google Hangout) to access more tools and the tutorial videos. To turn work in, you will need to scan/take a photo of the pages and email them to jjacobs@pinnacleclassicalacademy.com or bring back the pages during packet pick-up on April 6th.

I am diligently working on making this class entirely on Google Classroom so that no exchange of papers needs to take place. Please email me (see above address) if you DO NOT have any access to the internet (you will need a paper packet even if nothing needs to be printed).

Be sure to check out my fun science fact of the day on the main page of this website. Check back each weekday for a new one! If you have any questions about your assignment, join me any weekday from 11:30 until noon on the Google Hangout. You will be invited using your school email.

Homework: Syllabus signature sheet, two PigPen worksheets, Chapter 1 through page 8 (keep pages 9 and 10). MAKE SURE YOUR NAME IS ON EVERY PAGE!

March 2020

27 March 2020: With the school building closed, we are still learning! STEM packets are in the materials given to you by your homeroom teacher and are available here. Please do your math, science, social studies, and language arts work first. Each worksheet should take you no more than 30 minutes each and represent what we would try to accomplish in a class period (we would have included a class discussion about the material as part of the lesson).

We are in Week 2 of the closure, so read the five biographies and answer the questions in complete sentences. A separate piece of paper is recommended.

Be sure to check out my fun science fact of the day on the main page of this website. Check back each day for a new one! If you have any questions about your assignment, join me any weekday from 11:30 until noon on the Google Hangout.
