Sandra Olson has been teaching music at Pinkerton Academy since 2000. A native of Salem, NH, she has a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of New Hampshire where she concentrated on low brass performance.
During her thirty-plus year music education career, she has traveled with ensembles to conferences and festivals in Nashville, New York, Washington D.C., Williamsburg, Orlando, Montreal, Ireland, France, Belgium, Germany, and Switzerland. Traveling with students to California has always been a dream of hers.
“Without music, life would be a mistake” (F.Nietzsche).
Mrs. Olson’s students are constantly reminded that EVERYONE can be musical and enjoy music throughout their life. She loves the challenge of teaching beginners along with advanced students and recruiting former music students back to the art of making music. To sum up her day in two words, it would be, “ inspiration and differentiation."
Always looking to develop her instrumental and vocal knowledge and talents, she owns a large collection of instruments and loves to explore multi-cultural vocal and instrumental music. Professionally, Sandra enjoys performing on trombone, piano, voice and horn. Other interests include home improvements, holistic therapies, studies of music and the brain, crossword puzzles and juggling.
Sandra is a long term resident of Derry where she lives with her husband, Bill, three sons, three stepsons, Ella the Labrador Retriever, and two cats.
