Janice Copeland has been teaching art for 12 years at Pinkerton Academy and holds a bachelor’s degree from Emmanuel College. Beginning her career as a commercial artist, Janice was employed by Huntington Decorative Fabrics as a technical artist and then by GenCorp as a wall covering designer, before building her career as a freelance designer. She has created individual patterns for many manufacturers including wallpaper for Cabbage Patch Kids, picture frames for Fetco Home Decor, textile designs for Regal Fabrics and Springs Industries, invitations for Janson, and decorative mirrors for Stanley Tools. Janice is also credited for styling the wallcovering collections “Living Textures” by LCA, “Spring Meadow” by Imperial, “Town Square” by Sanitas, and lastly “More Katzenbach Kids” by Katzenbach and Warren, Inc., which is now included in the permanent collection of the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum Collection Wallcoverings Department.
As a design team, Janice and her husband Michael Copeland were featured in the Better Homes and Gardens Special Interest Publications, Window and Wall Ideas; Premier Magazine, The Eagle Tribune, The Nashua Telegraph, and The Boston Globe Magazine for their unique handmade wallpaper. Janice is passionate about good design and has a wealth of experience in a variety of media to share with her students.
