Description: This soap project is a project for Valentines day. We make a soap mold to make a soap to give to a friend or loved one. I chose to make a soap for my robotics team.
Brainstorm: I made my brainstorm on my iPad using the drawing app Procreate. My team hasn't made a logo yet, so I decided to make one myself. This part took a lot of the time, because we didn't have a logo yet. Lastly, I added our team number, 1698A, and our team name, Limited Edition.
Procedure: I firstly used a sketch to trace out my design, the logo and the cart.
I then traced Limited Edition and 1698A and combined them. I used Limited Edition to cut into the soap instead of protrude it so there would be some contrast.
First Print results
First Print evaluation: I printed it out, but the 1698A was a bit too small for me, and the side parts of the cart were too high and the top part of the cart was too low. The height of the soap was also too small, so I increased the size, as well as the cart height.
The Second and Final print results
This is the 3d print surrounded by the Silicone mold.
This is the mold without the 3D print.
Here is the final soap!
SOUL Reflection
S - Strength: My strength this project was how I was able to design both a new logo and CAD it in a limited amount of time.
O - Opportunities: I think I made my final print's heights too tall. It's not too bad, but I noticed that others have much lower designs. I could have redone the heights, but I thought I didn't have enough time. In the end, there was a lot of time left, so I regret not editing them earlier.
U - Understanding: I feel that I learned a lot from this project, including how to navigate Fusion 360 better, how to use the Spline tool, and how to print to the Bambu printer. I really like the spline tool, because it lets me make my own designs instead of rigid shapes. Fusion 360 now seems like a fun thing, instead of a chore. I want to try to print future personal projects using Fusion 360 and TinkerCAD.
L - Limitations: A limitation I had was that I didn't have a creative shape for my soap. I could have used the shopping cart or something else for the soap, but I didn't know I could do so and I thought you could only use a circle.
WISCR: For this project, I think I demonstrated the S ( self motivated ) and the I ( Insightful and Critical Thinking ). Throughout this project, I was motivated to finish my soap so that my team could see it and like it, which made me work faster and more productively. I was also insightful, measuring the lengths and heights of everything so that I wouldn't waste the printing time.
