Description: In a group of 4-5, build the tallest strcuture that is the most sturdy for at least 1 minute. The structue is built completely out of straws and 2 ft of masking tape. It must stand alone and the only thing it touches is the floor.
Brainstorm: We started talking about everyones ideas for the project and we decided to make squares out of the straws to make a base by connecting them, then we made a jelly fish looking structure and put in on top of the base. Then we decided to start building the structure by doing a repeat of that.
Procedure: Olivia and I started to make squares with the straws and Izzy made the "jelly fish structures" and then we started to stack the jellyfish onto the base with supporters (tape and more straws) which made it sturdy. Then when we decided that the structure was sturdy enough, and then we made one long line of straws with tape and more supporters which then fell over so we then built more structure and supports until we were finished. Then when the time ran out, and we had a semi tall structure.
Reflections:
-S The structure worked for us especially the tape and the straws.
-O What didn't work was the group members and it would be better next time with different groups.
-U I learned I will never build a structure out of straws.
-L What prevented us from having a successful project was the group members specifically Blake.
-WISCR We were critical thinkers because of the creative ideas that we came up with and we were clear communicators by telling each other what we wanted to do.
