In this project we were assigned with a person from Mandarin and we had to use fusion 360 to make a chocolate mold that was based on their heritage. we were required to make chocolate mold that had the dimentions 2.5 diameter circle and .25 inch in thickness.
First my parter Benji introduced what he wanted to have in his chocolate mold and he wanted his Chinese name(本杰), food, and fish. Using this info I developed the design showed below and asked him which design he liked the best.
Benji choose design with two fish circling around this name with food on the top right and left. So then using fusion 360 I Created a model. using After I finished creating the model i 3d printed it.
Then after i 3d printed it I realized that the design was not thick enough so then i had had to remodel it. but during the process of remodeling using move and scale Ms.Tran told me that i had to add eyes and when i was adding eyes i realized that i had moved and scaled the design too much and it was really hard to add the eyes. then with Ms.Tran help we fixed all of the problems we had. Then I printed the design
After i printed the design i saw that the name was a bit to extruded and was hight than it was supposed to be and the printer didnt print it very well. so i fixed the hight of the words and then i reprinted it.
After i finished printing Ms.Tran showed us how to make a mold for our design. I took equal parts blue stuff and white stuff and combined them. After we finished combining the materials into one solid color I took some of the molding material and made a layer to capture the details. Then i took the rest of the molding material and put it on to make some walls to the object. then after i finished making the walls i made sure that the modeling material is hugging my model so no air gaps would be in the design. Then once i finished i let is set.
the next class we got our molds and I popped my mold out. it had a few errors but it was still ok to use because the errors were not big enough.
after we finished our molds. We had to take our mold and sterilize them in boiling soap water so we can make chocolate in the molds.
After we sterilized the molds. we heated milk chocolate and put them in our molds and tapped them on the tables to get rid of the air bubbles. Then we waited for the chocolate to freeze and then we took them our of the molds.
SOUL reflection
S- I think the strength of my work was how the silicon mold was shaped and modeled pretty good and I think the design was really good too.
O- Some opportunities I had to improve my design was in the process of making the silicon mold because i has a few errors but overall I think my build was pretty good.
U- In this project I learned how to make a silicon mold and how to 3d print using the bambu printer
L- some limitations we had during this project was the size limit of 2.5 diameter circle.
WISCR- I think I use the S and W in this project because to build and print the mold I had to be well rounded and know how to cad and print. Next I was self motivated because to do the project well i had to motivate my self to do well.
