  • Verb Tense/Agreement Grammar Quiz Friday, March 20th
  • Drama/Play Test - Friday, March 13th

Changes to Homework:

  • For the next couple of weeks, students will not complete grammar columns for homework. We will do these at the beginning of each class for the practice.
  • Students will receive a passage that they will close read throughout the week. This means they will reread the passage each night for a different purpose. Each reading group will have a different passage to meet their reading needs.
    • Monday - Read for the gist + Write a short summary (Somebody wanted but so then)
    • Tuesday - Reread and annotate + Complete vocab section (Should use context clues not dictionaries)
    • Wednesday - Answer Questions 1-4
    • Thursday - Answer Questions 5-7
  • GRADING: Students will continue to get homework points each night for having their work completed on time. Packets will be turned in for a grade on Fridays. One question will be graded not only for completion but for a correct answer that must be written in a complete sentence. This will be worth 5 points.

  • SS-We are finishing discussing Chapter 3 Lesson 2 (Skipped lesson 1), We are trying to determine what happened to the Lost Colony of Roanoke. Students will present their theories in a mock trial room transformation (hopefully) at the end of February. The Lesson 3-2 quiz will not be taken for quite a while.

    • Students only need to know the vocab words with a *. They will need to know the rest of the information in each of the Lesson notes on the Social Studies page. A study guide was handed out in class.

Typical Homework

  • Students should be reading their independent novels for homework. They should jot down anything that they are noticing in their reading composition books so that we can have meaningful small group and individual conferences.
  • Students will also have a Grammar Column Sheet to complete each night for homework.
  • Vocab Matching is assigned the same day stems are introduced and is due the following day.
  • Homework is rarely (if ever) assigned on Fridays.
