With the mission statement to "engage, excite, and enlighten high school students to pursue careers in architecture, engineering, and construction through mentoring and continued support for their advancement into the industry", my time during 9th and 10th grade (2017-2019) in the Pine Bush/Middletown team of the Lower Hudson Valley Chapter of ACE was very informative. Although I learned that the industries that are explored in program are not exactly the ones that I want to pursue as a career, I did make quite a few friends and even got one of my first jobs at Collier Construction.
Having been recruited June 2018, I have committed dozens of hours in community service as a volunteer in the 4th New York Regiment, an American Revolutionary War reenactment group established by the Living History Guild in 2001. We put together authentic historical impressions and travel across the East Coast to reenactments, parades and educational programs, keeping history alive in a fun and interesting way.
I worked for Collier Construction LLC as an intern and laborer from December 2019 to January 2020. The company builds partnerships in the Commercial Construction Industry through education, transparency and being a knowledgeable resource in the local community. While I was employed by Collier I learned many practical trade skills as well as gain confidence in working in the professional world by contacting and networking between clients.
Under strict rules and limited time and resources, teams of high school students are challenged to build industrial-size robots to play a difficult field game in alliance with other teams, while also fundraising to meet their goals, designing a team “brand,” and advancing respect and appreciation for STEM within the local community. Pine Bush High School's Rookie Team 8003 entered the competition in the 2020 season.
I worked for Pete's Pumps as a plumbing apprentice and helper during the summer of 2020. It is a family-owned business specializing in well pumps, well tanks, water treatment, boilers, sewer pumps, and everyday plumbing needs.
Only one of four high schools in the country, Pine Bush High School became a certified Polaris dealer and training facility in 2018. The Master Service Dealer Technical Training Program is a free certification program designed to prepare technicians to work at a Polaris dealership by teaching you about Polaris vehicles, systems and components, maintenance, and diagnostics.
I worked as an intern at Creodent Milling Center, located in Newburgh, NY, from November 2020 to March 2021. The company primarily designs, manufactures and ships custom dental prosthetics such as implants, abutments, crowns, bridges, and so much more. I was interning in their CAD department, where I used Geomagic Studio and 3Shape Dental Manager to process 3D CAD files, such as STLs, for use in further design as well as 3D printed models.
