Classroom Wins: I love seeing my students excited about history. We do inquiry lessons where they are analyzing sources to come up with their own theories about what happened. Those “aha” moments are priceless. Second semester, we study the American Revolution and learn some “Hamilton” songs that we sing together in the lunchroom.

Favorite Classroom Tech Tool: Edulastic-I use it to create my assessments to make it more like the KSA for Social Studies.

Classroom Wins: My classroom win that has been ongoing since the 2020-21school year has been implementation of the Modern Classrooms Project model. It is a model that incorporates blended learning, self-pacing, and mastery based learning in a way that works for each classroom. The students love the model. Students who are advanced don’t have to wait for others to finish a particular task before moving on, students who are slower at completing work for whatever reason don’t feel that they are behind or rushed, and it allows students to try again if they don’t reach mastery on a lesson. I have true understanding of what students know and are able to do from the data I see in real time. It has also resolved A LOT of the issues of getting students caught up when they are absent. In education we always talk about students taking ownership of their learning. This model requires that. Throughout the year students develop their self-regulation, time management, and problem solving skills. A true classroom win.

Favorite Classroom Tech Tool: It’s Edpuzzle. In direct instruction it allows students to interact more with direct instruction, and both they and I can see it.
