Invitation to bid for the replacement of concrete sidewalks located on the southeast side known as the bus entrance sidewalks 2024. Please register your intent to bid at the bottom of this page. Any updates will be emailed.
Sealed bids will be accepted beginning March 11, 2024 8:00 am and ending on March 25, 2024 at 1:00 pm.
Sealed bids should be delivered to The Pike County JVSD District office ATTN: Tonya Cooper-bus entrance sidewalks 2024 either by mail or hand delivered to the same address. If using USPS for delivery use this address, Pike County JVSD, ATTN:Tonya Cooper-bus entrance sidewalks 2024, PO Box 577, Piketon, OH 45661 and the bid should be in a double envelope and will only be accepted if delivered before bid closing time despite the postmark.

Sealed bids will be opened soon after 1:00 pm on March 25, 2024 in The Pike County JVSD District office. The board shall accept only the “lowest responsive and responsible bid” (RC 3313.46(A)(6)). The board has the option of rejecting all the bids if none are acceptable.
Each bid must contain the name of every interested person. Each bid also must be accompanied by a bid guarantee in the form of either a bond for the full amount of the bid or a certified check, cashier’s check or letter of credit equal to 10% of the bid (RC 153.54). The bond must be issued by an insurer authorized to do business in Ohio. The board must reject any bid if the bond is issued by a company that is not licensed to do business in Ohio.
The Board has 60 days to accept a contract unless the board does either of the following: Extends the time for the opening of the bids. Issues a modification of the plans, specifications or cost estimates within 72 hours before the time set for the opening of bids. In this case, the board must extend the time for opening bids for one week (RC 153.12). The board also must furnish notice of the modifications to anyone who already has obtained plans for the project. However, no further advertisement for bids is required.
To determine which bidder has submitted the “lowest responsive and responsible bid,” a board may consider any of the following attributes about the bidders: general ability and capacity to carry on the work; equipment and facilities; promptness; the quality of work previously done by bidder; suitability to the particular task; personal qualities such as skill, integrity and judgment (Hudson v. Bd. of Edn., 41 Ohio App. 402, 407 (4th Dist.1931); State ex rel. Dale v. Columbus Bd. of Edn., 9 Ohio Dec. 336, 338 (C.P.1899)
All bids must conform to RC 3313.46
The Pike County JVSD is Tax exempt.
Local district money will be used for this project and does not require prevailing wage.
Contractors must be licensed, insured and have workers compensation.
All bids must be all inclusive of costs and permits that may be required.
Contractor must verify all utility locations before starting and register with OUPS. Contractor will be responsible for any utility damaged during construction.
Work hours will be approved by the owner.
All work to be performed in a professional workmanship manner and conform to all current codes and manufacturer specifications.
Work to be performed after June 10, 2024 and completed by July 30, 2024 in coordination with the owner.
Warranty shall be six months on workmanship and material.

RE: Sidewalk replacement
Scope of Work and specifications:
Removal and replacement of all sidewalks indicated in the red outlined on map document.
All new sidewalks shall meet or exceed current code requirements.
Area indicated with the green bar shall be widened to 5’. All others shall maintain existing width.
The center crosswalk ramp shall be widened to 12’ with the light post being the center of the width, and add a rubber detectable mat on both sides of the driveway in the ramp as code requires.
The white box labeled “remove” indicates an old flagpole concrete pad, this will be removed and covered with dirt.
The new base will be 4” of # 57 limestone compacted.
All new concrete will have ½’ rebar in a grid pattern of 3’ X 3’.
All new concrete will be pinned to old concrete every 2’.
All expansion joints will be maintained by industry standards including saw cuts.
Concrete shall be 4000 psi and 4” minimum.
A lightly broomed non-skid surface.
Apply a cure sealant to the concrete surface.
Concrete will be leveled to asphalt at each crosswalk.
Each ramp will include a code required for non-skid rubber insert.
Curb and sidewalk will be a continuous pour.
New curb must meet the asphalt. (repair asphalt as needed)
Sidewalk must maintain a continuous slope for proper water drainage toward the drive.
Curb height will be maintained as installed.
Final dirt grade shall be even with sidewalk, raked, seeded with straw.
