Bevins Elementary School is a P-5 school located in rural eastern Kentucky in the Pike County School District. We have approximately 235 students in grades Head Start through Fifth Grade. We are nestled in the mountains of the Big Creek community in Sidney, KY. Our principal is Mr. Matt Moon. Our motto is, "Simply the Best." Our staff members work collaboratively to create a nurturing environment where student success is both recognized and celebrated. We are privileged to have a committed staff, dedicated parents, and strong community support.
Our Comprehensive School Improvement Plan contains the school improvement goals as well as the strategies and activities to help us meet our goals. All students are provided equal academic opportunities through a common core curriculum. Our teachers actively engage students in learning and have high expectations for all students.
Extracurricular activities at Bevins Elementary School include the Student Technology Leadership Program (STLP), Academic Team, and 4-H. In addition, students also participate in Belfry area sports programs including basketball, football, T-ball, baseball, cheerleading, and soccer.
Parent involvement is a key to our success. Title I and Family Resource work collaboratively to train our volunteers and conduct monthly parent involvement meetings. Our school staff, parents, and community members are working toward a shared vision of helping Bevins Elementary School become Simply the Best! We hope to achieve our vision through teamwork and a commitment to excellence as we work together for the success of every student.
The regular monthly meetings of the Bevins Elementary School Council are conducted on the SECOND Tuesday of each month at 5:30 PM in room 123. All parents, faculty, staff, students, and community members are encouraged to attend.
