Dr. Michelle Lewis is a researcher, author, percussionist, presenter, arranger, land conservationist, and music educator of 29 years. She received a Bachelor of Music Education (BME) from Morehead State University, a Master of Music (MM) in Percussion Performance from Rutgers University, and a Ph.D. in Music Education from the University of Kentucky. Dr. Lewis has studied classical and marching percussion with renowned artists Frank Oddis, She-e Wu, and Dennis DeLucia.

Throughout her career, she has combined her passion for music and education with a deep commitment to the environment and community engagement. Dr. Lewis has presented at state, national, and international conferences, sharing her insights on music education, percussion pedagogy, and interdisciplinary teaching.

As a performer and arranger, she brings energy and creativity to every ensemble she works with, encouraging students to explore their potential through meaningful musical experiences. She loves performing in the community and believes that music is a powerful way to connect with others.

When she is not visiting family in Louisville, Dr. Lewis enjoys spending time in nature with her cat Giovanni. She currently resides in Letcher County and is grateful to be part of the Belfry Band of Pirates.
