Mrs. Annie Hanrahan

Mrs. Hanrahan,

Social Studies

Short Biography:

Teaching is the best job in the entire world. I am currently in my 11th year of teaching. I absolutely love my students and the talented professionals I get to learn from every day. Seeing students work cooperatively with one another and seek answers to their curiosities about the world is inspiring. PCHS has truly become a second family to me, and I feel so lucky to be a part of it.

Classroom Activity: Digital Escape Room

Today, after learning about the events leading the U.S. into WWII, students had to work collaboratively to research online and to break out of a digital escape room. They were told: It’s January, 1942. America is still reeling from the Pearl Harbor attack. Our intelligence agencies have been picking up chatter about another pending attack – this one might even be on the mainland! Unfortunately, some of the information we have is encoded and without the decryption pads to decode the information, we won’t be able to stop the attack. We captured a Japanese agent who has the decryption codes, but he’s locked them in a box with several locks and we can’t get him to open the locks. Can you help figure out the combinations to open the locks and help us to avert the attack?
