Position Overview
The Pat Harrison Waterway District (PHWD) is seeking a highly skilled and self-motivated
Marketing & Digital Communications Manager to lead the District’s marketing and digital
strategy and support its transition to a modern online reservation platform.
This contract position will play a key role in shaping PHWD’s public-facing digital presence
by contributing to website development, assisting with implementation of an online
reservation system across all parks, and managing social media communications to
promote recreation, tourism, and public engagement.
The selected individual will work closely with PHWD leadership and park staff to ensure a
consistent, professional, and user-friendly digital experience for the public.
Key Responsibilities
Website Development & Management
Provide strategic input and hands-on support in the redevelopment and ongoing
enhancement of the PHWD website.
Ensure the website is user-friendly, mobile-responsive, accessible, and aligned with
PHWD branding.
Maintain, update, and improve website content, including park information,
announcements, and event promotions.
Coordinate with internal staff and external vendors as needed to ensure functionality
and performance.
Online Reservation System Transition
Assist the agency in transitioning to a new online reservation system.
Collaborate with staff and software providers to ensure smooth implementation and
integration with the PHWD website.
Help develop user instructions, FAQs, and public communications related to the
reservation system rollout.
Monitor system performance and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
Social Media & Digital Communications
Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy across platforms such as
Facebook and LinkedIn.
Create and manage engaging content to promote PHWD parks, events, and tourism
efforts.
Coordinate with park managers to gather content, photos, and updates from all PHWD
locations.
Monitor engagement metrics and provide regular performance reports with
recommendations for growth.
Ensure all digital communications comply with PHWD policies and applicable
regulations.
Qualifications
Demonstrated experience in website development, management, and content
administration (e.g., WordPress, Squarespace, or similar platforms).
Experience assisting with or implementing online reservation or e-commerce systems is
strongly preferred.
Proven ability to develop and manage effective social media strategies and content.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational and time management abilities with the capacity to work
independently.
Ability to travel to PHWD parks as needed for content development and coordination.
Contract Details
Duration: Contract position serving at the will and pleasure of the PHWD Executive
Director and/or PHWD Board of Directors.
Compensation: Competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
