INTRODUCTION

The Department of Tourism and Hospitality at Politeknik Hulu Terengganu aspires to be an institution that produces holistic, entrepreneurial, and well-rounded human capital. In line with the Strategic Thrust of Polytechnics and Community Colleges, which aims to cultivate applied research and innovation while strengthening industry and community collaboration. The Department of Tourism and Hospitality at Politeknik Hulu Terengganu has taken the initiative to organize the National Symposium in Tourism and Hospitality Industry 2024.  The organization of this program will serve as an important platform for sharing knowledge, presenting new ideas, and discussing the latest trends in the tourism and hospitality industry.  There are three important elements in this program which are the keynote speech by an educational icon, forum with industry, and presentation of research papers. Through this symposium, participants will be able to interact directly, exchange information, and share the challenges and opportunities faced by the tourism and hospitality industry. Therefore, the tourism industry  can grow more effectively and competitively while also contributing to economic growth and sustainable development. Thus, the selection of the theme “Promoting Community-Based Tourism Among Tourism and Hospitality Industry Players” aligns with the objectives of this symposium. With an emphasis on local experiences, community-based tourism can help preserve local cultural heritage while increasing the income and economic well-being of local communities.
