Now in its 21st Year! Poynton Music Academy has established a reputation for nurturing and inspiring musicians, broadening & enhancing their experiences of singing and playing a musical instrument.
Providing opportunities to...
· Play and/or sing alongside others in larger groups led by professional musicians
· Make new friends/socialise with like minded people/musicians
· Help with the transition from Primary to Poynton High School
· Play and/or sing a wide variety of music
· Take part in performances
Students from years 3 to 6 and adults from aged 19 and above of all musical abilities in the Poynton community.
For year 3 to 6 students it is an ideal opportunity for them to meet and make friends with other students in different schools to help them transition to Poynton High School.
We run the following ensembles detailed below. The evening has been designed to enable younger students to attend both the instrumental and singing ensembles if they wish (two registrations are required to facilitate this).
String Ensemble (year 3 to 6) from 5pm to 6pm led by Mrs Williamson
The string ensemble is for students of all abilities that play the violin, viola, cello or double bass.
Wind & Brass Ensemble (year 3 to 6) from 5pm to 6pm led by Mr Longson
The wind and brass ensemble is for students of all abilities that play the piccolo, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone, cornet, trumpet, tenor horn, french horn, baritone, euphonium, trombone, tuba.
Singers (year 3 to 6) from 6pm to 7pm led by Mr Graham
This is for any students that like to sing and want to develop their singing voice whilst having fun learning.
Community Choir (19 years and above) from 7pm to 8pm led by Mr Webster and Miss Greaves
This is for adults of all abilities from experienced singers to beginners who just want to come and have fun.

Miss Greaves - Music Department Staff Volunteer at Poynton High School - Community Choir
What do I have to wear and bring?
Your own choice of clothes. Bring your instrument, a bottle of water and lots of enthusiasm!
How much does it cost?
Poynton Music Academy offers a comprehensive tuition service and there is a small charge per term of £40 per ensemble.
How do I register for a free trial and subsequent membership?
Please click the link below to take you straight to our registration form. It just asks you for some basic information so that we have it on file in the event of an emergency. We ask this is completed before attending.
You only need to register once per academic year (Sep to Jul).
Please always let us know if any essential information changes - especially any allergies or medical information our tutors need to be aware of.
We offer a free try before you buy session to all new starters to give everyone the chance to see if the ensembles are for them. If they are, then the fee for the term can be paid via our payments page. If it is not suitable then we thank you for giving it a go.
