Student Success Specialists coordinate and implement student success and support activities under the guidance and academic goals established by instructors. Student Success Specialists reinforce lessons and lectures by tutoring individual students or small groups. By creating improvement plans, documenting progress, and closely working with instructors, Student Success Specialists directly address needs relating to gaps in student success.
Another important role of Student Success Specialists is to serve as a liaison between students and services and supports offered by Phoenix College. By being able to refer students to adequate services on campus, Student Success Specialists are able to provide assistance beyond academics. Students have someone that not only helps them to navigate services offered by Phoenix college, but also someone that helps them to learn time management and other needed tools to be successful in college.
Student Success Specialists benefit from continuous training that enables them to fulfill their duties. Group trainings for Student Success Specialists are usually held every other week.
