To be successful in an online course, you will need the following understanding of technology.
A computer with an Internet connection and a web browser. It is NOT recommended that you use your phone to participate, complete and upload assignments for the course
Basic computer skills and a working knowledge of the Canvas learning management system
MS Word or other word processor software to complete assignments
Video and audio recording may be required for this course; information will be provided to make sure your web browsers settings allow webcam and microphone to be used
To complete some assignments you will be asked to work with a variety of digital tools, some that may require you to sign-up for FREE accounts

In this course we will use several web-based applications. These web-based applications are 3rd party tool(s) to complete or participate in assignments, activities and/or access course materials. You may be required to establish a user name or password, submit work and/or download information from these tools. There is, therefore, some risk that individuals electing to use the products and services made available by these tools may place any student information shared with the tool vendor at a risk of disclosure. The instructor reserves the right to add additional web-based 3rd party tools throughout the course.

Students must submit designated papers to Turnitin when instructed. Turnitin is an online plagiarism detection service that matches submitted papers to a database consisting of traditional publications, Internet publications, and other student papers. Information and instructions for Turnitin will be provided.

Assignments in MODULE 0 - Welcome to the Course - Getting Started WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED LATE. If you do not complete these assignments, you will be withdrawn from the course.
Completing work on time is important to learning. You should make every effort to submit work before or on the due date.
If you cannot submit on the due date, you will have 2 weeks to submit late work with a 30% deduction. After 2 weeks, no late work will be accepted.
You must complete the modules in sequential order. In other words, you cannot complete work in Module 1 unless you have comleted Module 0, etc.

Plan to spend at least three hours on course content or seat time (direct instruction) and six hours on homework weekly.
