The violin is the smallest of the string instruments and it plays the highest notes.

The viola is the second smallest instrument. It is slightly bigger than the violin and plays middle and high notes.

The cello is a larger instrument that you sit down to play. Cellos make low and high notes.

The bass is the largest of the string instruments. It makes very low sounds!
