This is my 10th year teaching, but my seventh at Mary Frank Elementary. I previously taught 6th grade for three years. I graduated from Western Michigan University where I was a student-athlete and played on their volleyball team while studying elementary education. I got married nine years ago to Nicholas Banks. We have a two daughters named Oaklyn and Monroe. We have two puppies named William and Winnie.
Teaching is a never-ending learning process. We learn right along with our students. Our philosophy for teaching is always providing a nurturing environment where students can become the best versions of themselves and learn and gain confidence in their successes and mistakes.
This is my 25th year teaching! I have spent most of my time in upper elementary-4th/ 5th grade with a handful of years in second grade. I love when I return to the upper grades and get to have students a second time around.
I graduated from Saint Mary's College with a degree in Elementary Education and Mathematics. I really enjoy teaching math and seeing my students' confidence grow. Another classroom favorite would be working with small groups in reading and seeing where their interests lead us.
When I'm not at school, I'm busy with my three children. Charlie is at Purdue Fort Wayne, Julia is in the Young Adults Program at Schmucker learning job skills, and Ellie is starting her freshman year at Penn High School. I want what is best for my students and I will always put that first, like I do for my own children.
I look forward to working with this 5th grade group-the students, our parent group, and my teaching partners are all amazing!
This is my 31st year teaching! I've spent my entire career at PHM, but have taught at Northpoint and Mary Frank Elementaries. I also ran the gifted and talented program for the district for four years.
My husband's name is Jason, our son Joshua is 30. We have four dogs named Henry, Hazel, Howard and Haddee.. They keep us very busy.
Besides all the students that I've had over the years, my biggest blessing is having amazing colleagues. I am EXTREMELY lucky to have Lexie as my teaching partner. I've learned so much from her and have had the best time doing it.
I love learning and the excitement it brings every day. Thank you so much for sharing your children with us this year.
