To address the growing demand for access to the collection, for the past year, Hall of Fame volunteers have been digitizing select elements of the Philadelphia Sports Heritage Collection with the goal of making them publicly available.
This past month, the team has reached it’s goal and that initial set of items is now available public viewing: https://hub.catalogit.app/2586
“Now, for the first time, anyone can view this amazing collection of Philly sports memories from a computer or smartphone for free from anywhere in the world,” said volunteer archivist Jim Montgomery. “We work with the collection on a daily basis and it's so gratifying to be able to open it up to the world.”
The Collection is organized into categories, organized and prioritized by Hall of Fame archivists. It is an ongoing, phased approach, with additional categories steadily being released in the coming weeks. Upcoming categories include Football, Uniforms and Equipment, and a section highlighting past exhibits at the Preview Gallery.
Digitization of the collection is an ongoing process and will never “officially” be finished. As an all-volunteer organization, the Hall of Fame welcomes anyone who wants to join the team. If interested, please email us at: archives@phillyhall.org
