Mission
To equitably assess and address the strengths and needs of every student and to enhance each student’s ability to reach his or her maximum potential. Teachers will utilize differentiated instruction to ensure that all students achieve at advanced/proficient levels. We envision the school as being the community nucleus of educational and familial cooperation. Our school will be a place where children give of themselves to help others: where families, community, and educators work together to create a safe, nurturing environment where children can learn, develop and become successful citizens whose education will enable them to successfully meet the interpersonal, technological and global challenges of the 21st century.
Vision
At Thomas Holme Elementary School, we believe that the arts are an integral part of a student’s education. Thomas Holme is developing a body of research data that shows how integration can help struggling students learn standard curricula. We are committed to weaving the arts and standards curricula together to create a richer and more lasting learning experience for all 575 students. We strive to achieve this by including literacy and mathematics in the arts programs by collaborating with grade-level teachers. Arts integration is an excellent platform to reinforce common core standards and develop conceptual, technical, and problem-solving skills. Our school has a higher-than-average concentration of students with emotional, social, and Autistic support needs. Arts therapy has proven, through experiential evidence, to benefit our population and reach challenging students.
