Meet the New Principal

Micah Winterstein was born and raised in Philadelphia and attended public school as a graduate of Central High School. He attended Guilford College in North Carolina before attending graduate school at Chestnut Hill College and Temple University. He has been in the district for the past 9 years, 7 years as a teacher and two years as an Assistant Principal. He has an educational philosophy focusing around creating a safe space that nurtures curiosity, promotes critical thinking, and encourages creativity. He is committed to ensuring that every child receives a well-rounded education that prepares them for future success.

Meet the New Assistant Principal

Tamala Montgomery, a Philadelphia native and devoted educator of fifteen years, has enjoyed eclectic and rich professional experiences in both the U.S. and East Asia, including five years living and working in Taiwan and China. A proud graduate of George School and Swarthmore College, Ms. Montgomery’s educational mission - to cultivate global citizenship through authentic learning experiences.

Since joining the School District of Philadelphia in 2008, Ms. Montgomery has assumed diverse roles, including manager of multilingual projects, teacher (Mandarin Chinese, ESOL, second, fifth, and fourth grades), and instructional coach.  Ms. Montgomery served four years as School-Based Teacher Leader at Solis-Cohen Elementary School before joining Thomas Holme Elementary School as Assistant Principal in August 2023.  A life-long learner, Ms. Montgomery enjoys the joyful challenges of speaking Mandarin Chinese, DIY furniture assembly projects, and baking allergen-free treats with her young children.
