Google Classroom (the official on-line platform of the School District of Philadelphia) allows you to see all class assignments as well as submit work, comments, or questions to the teacher. In short, it is a virtual classroom, where students log on to find their teacher and classmates waiting to start the day.
Your child’s teacher did most of the work. If your child remembers how to log on, they simply go on to their waffle, scroll down to Google Classroom and their new classroom is ready!
Click on the waffle, open Classroom, then click on the name of the classroom you are trying to open. Click on the Classwork tab at the top.
The Stream tab is where you can see announcements from the teacher for the class.
The Classwork tab shows and stores all your child's assignments.
You can submit an assignment by clicking the "Turn In" button at the right of each assignment. You can also watch the video on how to submit an assignment on Google Classroom page by clicking here.
The entire Pollock staff will be using ClassDojo for parent communication. This will be the best way, other than an email, to communicate with teachers. It should make it easier for those of you with more than one child!
We are sorry to see you go! Send Mr. Caldwell (fcaldwell@philasd.org) a quick email and he will give you instructions or a phone call to help you with that.
If you are not sure where to start, go with the classroom teacher. He/she will direct your question to the right person.
We are lucky enough to have translators for many languages. First email the Bilingual Counselor (BCA) that you need. If you need something that they cannot translate for you, they will assist you with the School District of Philadelphia’s Language Line. If he/she needs to call you, expect a phone call from an outside (Google) phone number.
Use the form here to contact Mr. Caldwell.
First contact Mr. Caldwell via the aforementioned form found here, or If you can, Call: 215-400-4444 or email: FamilyTechSupport@philasd.org. Your child’s teacher can also support you. Let them know what kind of help you need and he/she will make the connection between you and our best possible resource(s).
