FAQ's

1. Do students need to have a trifold boardl?  The purpose of this board is to give judges a clear understanding of the ideas and processes the kids used to create their final project. Ideally, the board would contain all of the requirements of each category as listed on the state site such as the narrative, the copyright information, images of the process in the form of screenshots or photos. The state site as slide decks of previous winners if you and your students need additional ideas.


2. Do we take photos and add them to the submission? Yes, you can add photos, screenshots, and printed text. Check out the Results tab at mediadesigncompetition.org


3. Besides photos and attached documents, what else needs to be submitted? Each category has different requirements, this can be found on the categories and rules pages on the mediadesigncompetition.org. All categories require the narrative, copyright requirements, and a storyboard or planning doc and will be disqualified if those items are not provided. The rubrics of each category also list a unique checklist of items that are needed in order to judge the project.


4. Is there anything I need to do before the deadline, like register myself? Yes, you can go onto the state's registration page and register yourself as an advisor now. You can also begin to register projects anytime up until the registration close date, March 4. You also will have the ability to return to the registration portal to make edits to your registration information after it has been entered. You will also need to provide student addresses and email in the event that they move on to the state competition. Awards at the state level will be sent through the mail.


5. Do the actors all need signed photo releases in the Digital Movie category? If you are doing a movie that has actors that the actors or their guardians would need to sign off especially if they are under 18. You can also use the photo release that students have sent home by their districts in the beginning of the year. Especially if all the students go to the same school.
