There are many characteristics that make a great teacher but I know that I encompass three of those ideals. Caring, patient, and organized are three things that I possess other than the never-ending passion for teaching that I have in my heart. By having certain characteristics, it provides for a rich, environment for learning in the classroom. As a teacher, I want my students to grasp on to new content through differentiated learning to help them build a foundation enabling the students to further their knowledge for the following years in school. Not only do I want them to actively engaged in what is going on in the classroom, I also want to be a positive influence in their life for the present time and for the future for them to become global citizens. I hope to be a positive influence everyday while in the classroom through my passion for teaching while carrying out my philosophy of education.
One significant part of my educational philosophy is classroom management. Discipline through self- control, rules, routines, and procedures are a foundation that will lead to high student achievement in my classroom. Setting positive expectations and treating students with respect will give students the opportunity to feel empowered to make decisions on their own. The positive expectations set in the classroom provides the foundation for each student to obtain high achievement levels throughout the entire school year. All of these methods of classroom management and teaching will keep my students working positively and productively through active involvement to reduce the incidence of misbehaviors in my classroom.
Every single student can succeed in the elementary school if teachers give students the opportunity to make good decisions, take responsibility for their actions, and most importantly learn from their successes and mistakes. Providing structure that allows students to see themselves as capable, significant, and able to control their own lives will lead to a sense of belonging, cooperation and inter-discipline. I want my students to be able to control their actions and discuss what is bothering them in the classroom. Classroom meetings/discussions is a big part of my classroom community by having everyone encourage and support one another not only is pierced for also as caring friends.
Displaying positive, respectful behavior in the classroom is so important for my students to do everyday during the school year. Positive motivation strategies are essential to have students be excited about learning and behaving well everyday. When dealing with consequences and intervention strategies, the students will be treated with respect and dignity so they take action for their mistakes. Students will have the opportunity to learn from their mistakes and will be rewarded if they have excellent behavior. As a teacher, I will work together with the students to have them realize that they are able to control their actions through my positive expectations and we have an effective, respectful classroom.
