Fox Chase School is linked with CORA as our Student Assistance Program. Please contact Mrs. Borrelle who can make a direct referral.
CORA Services provides behavioral health needs assessments in schools throughout northeast Philadelphia through the Student Assistance Program (SAP). Assessment services support the school SAP team’s efforts to identify and remove obstacles to a student’s learning. Substance use or mental health issues often play significant roles in ongoing achievement and performance problems. For a parent/guardian or educator who has concerns about a student who appears to be experiencing marked behavior changes, a pattern of unusual behavior, or a high level of emotional distress, a behavioral health needs assessment is the first step in getting help. CORA’s professional staff assess the nature and severity of suspected substance abuse or mental health concerns, determine the level of care needed, and provide referrals for treatment or other helpful services.

INTENSIVE BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES
Children, youth, and young adults up to age 21 who are struggling with serious emotional or behavioral issues or skill deficits may benefit from our community-based Intensive Behavioral Health Services (IBHS), a program that is designed to give each individual the tools they need to face challenges with a greater sense of strength and resilience. Our team of Clinical Psychologists, Behavior Consultants, and Mobile Therapists work with each child, youth, or young adult, and their family, to develop an individualized plan to address specific needs and difficulties. A plan may include:
Evaluation and Assessment across settings that are normal for a child, youth, or young adult
Functional Behavioral Assessment
Individual and Family Therapy
Medication Management
1-1 individual support in a specific identified setting with a Behavioral Health Technician to teach skills
Behavior Consultation across settings to develop interventions to teach skills and improve overall functioning
FOR REFERRALS OR INFORMATION ABOUT IBHS, PLEASE CALL 267.297.5170.

Examples of issues and challenges that may bring a young person to PCCRC include the following:
Severe behavioral disturbances
Self-harm
Suicidal thoughts
Increased aggression and/or impulsivity
Worsening anxiety, depression, or other emotional problems
When you bring your son or daughter to PCCRC, we will conduct a thorough assessment to ensure that we can identify your child’s needs and determine the most effective level of care.
During this process, you and your child will meet with a crisis triage counselor, a nurse or clinical social worker, and a psychiatrist.
Depending upon the results of this assessment, we may recommend the following services:
Therapeutic stabilization – If an immediate therapeutic intervention will enable your child to achieve stability, we can provide this service, and develop a crisis plan to ensure that your family is connected with the community-based support services that you need.
Admission into our on-site Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) – This option is for young people who can benefit from an intensive, short-term, coordinated treatment experience. CSU features include around-the-clock supervision and individual, group, and family therapy. Typical length of stay is three to five days.
Referral to appropriate level of care – If your son or daughter is stable and does not require around-the-clock care, we can refer you to community-based services. For young people whose needs merit hospitalization, we can arrange a direct transfer to a local treatment facility.
Crisis/aftercare planning – If your son or daughter receives therapeutic stabilization or is admitted into our CSU, we will develop a detailed plan to connect you with the resources that will support your child’s continued recovery after he has completed his or her time in our care.
