Counseling Related Services
School Counselors provide a range of services to students in a variety of areas. We provide short term supports and provide outside referrals for families requesting long time services such as therapy.
Here is a snapshot of what School Counselors do:
Individual Counseling
Crisis Intervention including Threat and Risk Assessment
Small Group
Section 504 Coordination
IEP Team Collaboration
Classroom Guidance
Parent Consultation
Staff Collaboration (includes dean, teachers, counselors, SPECM-if applicable)
Referrals to outside agencies (SAP, IBHS, Uplift, JJPI,etc)
High School Selection
Resource Coordination
Attendance Monitoring
Peer Mediation
McKinney-Vento Act (Support for homeless or displaced families)
Foster Care/DHS point of contact
Emergency Funds (based on availability)
