Counseling Related Services

School Counselors provide a range of services to students in a variety of areas. We provide short term supports and provide outside referrals for families requesting long time services such as therapy.

Here is a snapshot of what School Counselors do:

• Individual Counseling

• Crisis Intervention including Threat and Risk Assessment

• Small Group

• Section 504 Coordination

• IEP Team Collaboration

• Classroom Guidance

• Parent Consultation

• Staff Collaboration (includes dean, teachers, counselors, SPECM-if applicable)

• Referrals to outside agencies (SAP, IBHS, Uplift, JJPI,etc)

• High School Selection

• Resource Coordination

• Attendance Monitoring

  • School District of Philadelphia's Attendance Protocol

• Peer Mediation

• McKinney-Vento Act (Support for homeless or displaced families)

• Foster Care/DHS point of contact

• Emergency Funds (based on availability)
