About Me

"Creative being inspired by life's adventures through my roles as a designer, educational consultant, friend, stepmom, teacher and wife."

As a teacher, I strive to create a student-centered learning environment that fosters creativity, collaboration and independent critical thinking and listening. As a digital media designer, I introduce students to the elements and principles of design that are the foundation of all designs and media.  Then, the students use the skills learned to formulate their own conclusions to designing tasks they   are faced with.

While I loved to design from an early age, I realized I wanted to teach while working at a local community center teaching arts and crafts to various age groups after graduating from Moore College of Art & Design with a BA in Graphic Design.

I am very excited about this school year because it will give my students the opportunity to explore graphic design and digital photography virtually. By refining their design skills students will be able to produce a well-rounded portfolio consisting of various pieces of art.

I have been teaching Film and Video Production at CAPA since 2004 and have dedicated myself to the students and community at this school.

I am a cum laude graduate from Temple University with a B.A. in Film and Media Arts.  My first career was working in the Hollywood film industry as a Camera and Lighting Technician.  This experience has allowed me the opportunity to become a CTE teacher.   It was my high school photography teacher that inspired me and let me know that I was good at this art form.  That feeling has stayed with me throughout my career and I transfer that into my own philosophy of teaching.  I inspire my students through my passion for filmmaking, video production and photography.

As a CTE Teacher, I bring the community into my classroom by having developed relationships with staff from local universities, production companies and organizations.  This provides real-world significance and helps them to attend workshops, obtain internships and employment opportunities locally.  Additionally, these relationships allow us to often take field trips to enhance our classroom knowledge and participate in real-world experiences.  I gauge my success on the achievements of my students.
