Step away from the real world and into a concert full of imagination, mischief, and joy! “The Land of Make-Believe” is a playful, family-friendly event designed to delight younger listeners while giving adults a much-needed dose of musical escapism. From cartoon-inspired symphonic works and whimsical wind ensemble classics from our Concert Bands to grooving and sparkling pieces from our Jazz Ensemble, this concert is sweet, silly, and seriously fun!
The Philadelphia Freedom Band has 2 concert bands: Symphonic Band (open to all) and Wind Ensemble (audition-only).
Our concert bands holds two concerts annually, in spring and winter, presenting a wide range of music, from classical pieces to pop tunes. Past themes include: Holiday Jawn, Unity in Rhythm, A Compendium of Beasts, PFB in SPACE, A Musical Feast, and Water is Life.
The Philadelphia Freedom Band's jazz ensemble holds multiple performances each year, playing a mix of jazz standards and new tunes.
Our jazz ensemble was re-established in 2023! Since then, the ensemble has held 3 stand-alone concerts, as well as performing alongside our concert bands.
Our marching band performs all year long across the greater Philadelphia region, with our main season during summer.
Join us any time! We're always welcoming new musicians, color guard members, or volunteers to serve as band aides.
