Health & Wellness

Dear Families,

In an effort to promote good health, the Pennsylvania Department of Health has developed a Health Code which requires proof of a physical examination by the end of Kindergarten or grade 1, grade 6, and grade 11.

Physical examinations may be completed by your child’s private physician or the school’s physician, Dr. Anand. The free physicals will be held on October 13, 2021. Please contact the school nurse by 10/4/21 if you are interested in a school physical for your child.

As a courtesy to our families, our school physician, Dr. Sandeep Anand, has also agreed to perform sports physicals to those student athletes who are planning to participate in PIAA sports at Penn Hill Charter School of Entrepreneurship during the 2021-2022 school year. There is no cost for this examination. The physicals will take place on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 from 12:30PM-1:30PM.

Sports physicals may also be completed by your child’s private physician or at an Urgent Care Center such as MedExpress, Inside CVS Pharmacy, or Walgreens.

If you would like to have your child receive a free sports physical by the school physician, please return the completed PIAA Comprehensive Initial Pre-Participation Physical Evaluation packet (Sections 1-5) and contact the Athletic Director or School Nurse by October 4, 2021.

EQUITY CORNER

The Equity Committee is dedicated to enhancing the equity education at PHCSE. We strive to educate our students and staff about different cultures and how PHCSE fits into our world and society. Through monthly lessons, students will be exposed to different cultures. We strive to instill respect for others who are different than us.

October is Disability Awareness Month. This month, students are learning about people with disabilities. They will be exposed to lessons focussing on what a disability is and how disabilities may affect others. They will learn about the accomplishments of people with disabilities.
